Blazers Fall to Pride on Senior Night

CHICOPEE, MA - The Elms College Men's Basketball team lost a conference matchup against Regis College at home Wednesday night, in Picknelly Arena.

PRIOR TO THE GAME

The Blazers honored graduate student Tahquell Cadle (Bridgeport, CT) and seniors Neilon Bridgeman (Brooklyn, NY), Teron Griffin (Harlem, NY), and Patrick Nguyen (Newington, CT) for their years of dedication to the Elms College men's basketball program during their 2023-24 Senior Night.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Elms started off the game slow, failing to score in the first four minutes. Junior Aaron Sanchez (the Bronx, NY) and Griffin got the Blazers on the scoreboard eventually, cutting into the Regis lead. Cadle chipped in some scoring, keeping the game tight. Both teams traded leads back and forth for a little bit, reluctant to give up the lead. Both teams also struggled to score early, as defense led the way for the Pride and the Blazers. Regis went on a 13-0 run to extend their lead to double digits a couple minutes before halftime. Sanchez and junior Kishaun Cole (Sleepy Hollow, NY) contributed some late free throws and layups for Elms towards the end of the first half, and the Blazers went into halftime down 34-24. 

Elms cut into the Regis lead more at the beginning of the second half. Sanchez, Griffin, and Cadle carried the offensive scoring load for the Blazers. Regis responded well though, and extended their lead back out to double digits. Elms had a tough time stopping Regis on defense, and couldn't get closer than 8. Regis eventually extended their lead out to 20 at the halfway point of the second half, leaving Elms sputtering on defense. The Blazers never got back in the game after that, falling 75-52.
