How it happened

Against WestConn, Elms looked to head into the break with a win. WestConn got the scoring going ealy, getting to the lane for easy drives. Addison Phifer and Teron Griffin helped put Elms in the lead early with a couple of good shots. WestConn buckled down on defense, using their height to make Elms uncomfortable. The Wolves pulled ahead 30-9 as their defense was a big factor early. A group effort by Elms cut the deficit to 15, as for a couple of minutes the Blazers played tough defense. Tahquell Cadle and Jacob Cancel hit two three's and a jump shot late to cut into the West Conn lead, but the Wolves scored late in the half and were up 46-29 at half.

RJ Mayfield and Aaron Sanchez did the best they could to keep Elms in the game early in the second half. Sanchez' rebounding and Mayfield's drives to the lane cut into the deficit, possibly giving Elms momentum. WestConn didn't falter, and the Wolves maintained and extended their lead the whole second half, winning 90-60.

Next Up: The Blazers will be away on Friday, December 29, to take on Holy Cross at 2:00.
