How it happened

At home, the Blazers took on the Rivier Raiders Saturday afternoon. Elms went on a mini scoring run to start the game, but Rivier responded, taking the lead midway through the first half. It was a low scoring half for both teams, as both teams locked down on the defensive side, limiting scoring opportunities on both ends. Elms hung around the whole half courtesy of Tahquell Cadle's scoring and the rebounding of Aaron Sanchez. Limited to one shot, Rivier failed to capitalize on primary scoring drives. RJ Mayfield hit a pair of free throws to cut the deficit to 32-28 for Elms at the half.

The Blazers hung around during the second half too. Teron Griffin, Tahquell Cadle, and RJ Mayfield led the way for the Blazers, who regained the lead and held it for a good portion of the half. Aaron Sanchez continued his good play by being aggressive on the offensive boards. Late in the second half, Rivier went on a late run, scoring a couple late baskets and free throws. Elms cut into the lead late, but was unable to overtake Rivier, losing 59-57.
