HOW IT HAPPENED

At home again, the Elms Blazers took on the undefeated Plymouth St. Panthers on Saturday. The Blazers got started early again off of some quick points by RJ Mayfield, but the Panthers came back to tie the game at 11 with 10 minutes left in the first half. The Panthers took a 14-13 lead with 6 minutes left in a first half where offense was a premium. Both the Blazers and Panthers struggled to make shots, but neither side gave ground. Tahquell Cadle went on a 7-0 run himself to put the Blazers up 20-14, and Elms took a 21-16 lead into halftime.

Jake Midura, Aaron Sanchez, and Cadle extended the Elms lead to 10 at the beginning of the second half, leading to danger time for the Panthers. A Cadle assist to an RJ Mayfield poster dunk extended the Elms lead to 13, putting them in control. Plymouth State continued to manage the tide of the game, and hung around. The Blazers went on a little scoring drought, leaving the door open for the Panthers to come back. With 5 minutes left the Blazers only led by 1, but Mayfield and Sanchez played tough to extend the Blazers lead back to 6. With two minutes left, Elms got a couple of defensive stops, and baskets from veterans Teron Griffin and Tahquell Cadle put the Panthers away. The Blazers won their second straight game 59-53.
