HOW IT HAPPENED

The game remained scoreless for almost three minutes following tip off, until the Gators dunked in their first two points of the game. The Blazers would shortly follow up by getting two on the board with a layup from Jacob Cancel (Northampton, MA) assisted by Ian Green (Fort Worth, TX). Sage would control the majority of the first half with a lead no larger than 10 over the Blazers. Elms was unsuccessful from outside of the arch causing them to rely on short jumpers and layups in the first. Sage led in rebounds to close out the half with 24 collected over the Blazers 15, and both teams had a team shooting percentage within 80% from the free throw line. Gators lead 31-21 heading into the halftime.

Tahquell Cadel (Bridgeport, MA) was the outlier for the Blazers as he cashed in 12 points from inside the arch and collected 5 rebounds in the second half. With under five minutes of play in the game Teron Griffin (Harlem, NY) was the spark that changed the pace of play for the Blazers as he put up seven points with three back to back free throws to turn a twelve point deficit to a one point game with three minutes remaining. As the game became a back and forth battle against the clock the Blazers resorted to sending the Gators to the foul line. Sage went on to knock down each foul shot taken in the final minutes of play to close out the game 63-59 for the final.
