Chicopee, MA – The Elms College men's basketball team dropped a home GNAC game to Johnson and Wales University on Thursday night at Picknelly Arena.
THE BASICS:
SCORE: Elms 65, JWU 76
RECORDS: Elms (2-16, 2-11 GNAC), JWU (9-10, 7-6 GNAC)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
After Elms scored the first basket of the game, the Wildcats responded with a 20-4 run over the next five minutes of game time to open up a 14 point advantage. JWU extended their lead to 16 at 32-16 on a layup before a Blazers run cut the lead to eight at 35-27. Elms closed out the half on a 9-4 run to cut JWU's lead to three at halftime.
Out of the halftime break, Elms went on an 9-0 run, taking a 5 point lead with 16 minutes remaining. The Wildcats responded and took the lead back at 57-51, behind nine straight points taking the game 76-65 in regulation.
