How it Happened

Against a struggling BlueJays team, the Blazers were looking to get their first win of the year. However, Devan Fox scored the first goal for the Jays less than a minute in, setting up a game that was controlled by the Jays from start to finish. The Jays were aggressive, peppering goalie Kaitlyn Lynes with shot after shot, and scored two more goals in the first period by Isabella Pelletier and Megan Strezpa to go up 3-0. Towards the end of the first period, Victoria Accorsi and Samantha Bonneau got shots of their own on the Jays net, but failed to score. Elms played a stronger defensive quarter behind Lynes, and went into the half down 3-0.

To start the second half, Aurelia Barker and Maya Tomko scored for the Jays, making their lead 5-0. Lynes did all she could in net, but had very little offense to support her and take some of the pressure off. Tomko struck again for the Jays, as they went up 6-0 at the end of the third quarter. Now in for the Blazers, Katelyn Volk saved her first couple of shots, but Pelletier and Gabriella Borruso scored again for the Jays, giving St. Joe's (CT) an 8-0 win over the Blazers.
