How it Happened

Off of an encouraging game versus Nichols, the Blazers were hoping to play with the same energy versus Union, and keep the game close early. That's what they did to start, as the Elms defense, combined with goalie Kailtyn Lynes (South Hadley, MA), blocked continuous Union shots during the early part of the first period. Union broke through however, with two quick goals late in the quarter by Megan Dorsey to go up 2-0. Lynes was strong in the net again at the beginning of the second quarter, but the Blazers defense was exploited when Union scored two more goals to end the first half up 4-0.

Going into the second half, Union came out with the same energy, and Maddie Greco and Sophie Ruhl scored two quick goals to push their lead to 6-0. Elms tried to stand tall on defense, but two more goals by Union gave them an 8-0 lead. The Blazers couldn't get anything going in the fourth, and Union squeaked by another goal, giving them a 9-0 win.
