How it Happened

The Blazers started the game trying to change the narrative around their team. Kaitlyn Lynes (South Hadley, MA) played spectacularly in the goal at the start, saving her first six shots on net. Nichols broke through when Katelyn Casper scored Nichols' first goal of the game to go up 1-0. Nichols continued to bombard Elms with shots on net, but Lynes turned to the next play, saving more of the Bison's shots, keeping the game at 1-0 after the first quarter. Even though Lynes played great in the second quarter, the Blazers defense seemed to be gasping for air, as they could not deter Nichols from repeatedly shooting shot after shot on net. Sofia Calabro put the Bison up 2-0 heading into the half.

Only down 2-0, Elms was in a bright spot heading into the second half. However, Nichols ended their hopes when they scored three goals right away in the third quarter, going up 5-0. The Blazers struggled to get going on the offensive end, as they were not able to register a shot on goal. The deficit could've been more if not for the good play of Lynes, who saved 20 out of 25 shots on the night.
