How it Happened

On a humid afternoon, it was not ideal playing conditions for anybody. That didn't stop Johnson and Wales from getting off to a fast start. After an early goal by the Wildcats, Katelyn Volk stopped some early shots for the Blazers, but three late goals in the first quarter put the Wildcats out in front. Ava Pontes scored again for the Wildcats early in the second quarter to put Johnson and Wales up 5-0, which was followed by an Izzy Ward goal to increase the lead to 6-0. Going into halftime, the Blazers were down 7-0.

Izzy Ward wasted no time picking back up where she left off, scoring two more quick goals out of half to put the Wildcats up 9-0. The Blazers couldn't come up with an answer to deal with the Johnson and Wales pressure, allowing two more goals by the end of the game. Katelyn Volk performed admirably for the Blazers, saving 10 out of 21 shots in net. When the final whistle blew, the Blazers had lost 11-0.
