Newman Named to NFHCA All-Region 2nd Team

Chicopee, MA – Elms College field hockey senior goalkeeper Nora Newman (Woburn, MA) has been selected to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-Region 2nd Team.

The NFHCA's mission is to stimulate the professional development of coaching leadership within the sport of field hockey. As a nonprofit organization serving coaches and friends of the game, the NFHCA strives to cultivate and recognize the professional contributions of its membership and to foster and promote the growth of the sport in the United States.

Newman was also selected Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) goalkeeper of the year, as well as 1st Team All-Conference

Newman had an impressive .788 save percentage while making 141 saves during the 2021 season, which was tops in the GNAC. Newman also registered 5 shutouts on her way to leading the Blazers to the semifinals in its inaugural season in the conference.

Coach Rachel Lapar selected Newman as the team's representative for the conference sportsmanship team.

Newman also earned GNAC goalkeeper of the week two times, and was named to the GNAC All-Tournament Team.
