Newman Tabbed GNAC Goalkeeper of the Year

Chicopee, MA – Elms College field hockey senior goalkeeper Nora Newman (Woburn, MA) has been selected Great Northeast Athletic Conference goalkeeper of the year, as well as 1st Team All-Conference.

Newman had an impressive .788 save percentage while making 141 saves during the 2021 season, which was tops in the GNAC. Newman also registered 5 shutouts on her way to leading the Blazers to the semifinals in its inaugural season in the conference.

Coach Rachel Lapar selected Newman as the team's representative for the conference sportsmanship team.

Newman was also selected GNAC goalkeeper of the week two times, and named to the GNAC All-Tournamnet Team..

Not only was she determined, but too determined to have fun while doing it. She brings consistent energy to the team day in and day out. We are so proud of these players!"
