Blazers Cap Season in Semifinals

New London, NH - The Elms Blazers field hockey team was defeated by Colby-Sawyer College 3-0, in the GNAC Seminfinals this past Wednesday at Sally Shaw Veitch Track & Field.

THE BASICS

SCORE: Elms 0 | Colby-Sawyer 3

RECORD: Elms (9-9-0, 7-4-0 GNAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Elms defense came prepared as the Chargers fired three shots towards the keeper before the Blazers could put up one, which came in the 11th minute of the first quarter. Neither team was able to score, leaving the first period scoreless.

About halfway into the second quarter, the Chargers were able to draw a penalty stroke resulting in a 1-0 lead.

The third period was much quieter as only three shots were taken, all by Colby-Sawyer.

Less than two minutes into the fourth quarter, the Chargers added another to the board. On the other end of the quarter, with less than two minutes remaining in the game the Chargers tallied one more to bring the game to a close, 3-0.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

Katie Jones and Carissa Ramirez both saw shots on the day.

- Nora Newman saw 6 saves on the day as well.

- The Blazers wrap up their season with a 19-9 overall and a 9-4 in their first GNAC season appearance. Huge congratulations to this years squad and special recognition to the seniors and post graduate!
