Blazers Blank Dean for Breast Cancer Awareness Game

Chicopee, MA – The Elms Blazers women's field hockey team picked up their fourth Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) win against Dean College Saturday evening, 9-0.

THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Elms College field hockey team swept Dean College in their Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) game home on Leary Field, 9-0 Saturday evening. 

The Blazers scored twice in the first quarter, once in the second, twice in the third and four times in the fourth. Carissa Ramirez led Elms with a hat trick. Melanie Ward and Nora Newman had two goals apiece. Katie Jones and Ellie Serra each contributed a goal.

- Snejana Lashtur, Elizabeth Collins, Ellie Serra, Katie Jones, Carissa Ramirez, Halie Shea and Nora Newman all saw shots.

 FROM THE DESK OF COACH LAPAR: 

"Saturday was our Breast Cancer Awareness game and our goal was to show up, brave the fight and work hard for each other. That is exactly what we did. In our 9-0 victory, we had goals from five different players, Ellie Serra, Melanie Ward, Carissa Ramirez, Katie Jones, and Nora Newman, and assists from three additional players Erin Thibodeau, Sam Bonneau, and Lizzy Collins who had three assists herself. In addition, both our goalies got on the field in net, Nora Newmand and Aubrey Boyd. At the end of the game, you could feel the energy and that it meant a lot for all members of the team to feel like they contributed. This is the momentum we need going into our final three (conference) games of the season. As a reminder as well, we will be doing a 50/50 raffle to benefit Breast Cancer Awareness at the remainder of our two home competitions."
