Baseball Loses to Lasell 2-0, Rondon Throws 13 Strikeouts

WALTHAM, MA - The Elms College Baseball team visited the Lasell University Lasers in a conference game Sunday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Junior Henry Rondon (Ansonia, CT) would take the hill for Elms and pitched eight innings with 13 strikeouts and only allowed four hits and two runs. Lasell would score their two runs in the bottom of the first inning after sacrifice ground out to third base where the runner on third base would advance to score, followed by an RBI-single to center field the next at bat. The Blazers would load the bases with two outs in the top of the second inning, but Elms would end the inning with a ground out to third base. In the top of the third inning, seniors Tyler Galenski (Wilbraham, MA) and CJ Moriarty (Glastonbury, CT) would hit back-to-back singles, but the Lasers would collect the final out of the inning. The remainder of the contest would see both sides continue their pitching performances, Lasell would throw a combined 12 strikeouts, and the Lasers would secure the 0-2 victory in the top of the ninth inning. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Rondon: 8.0 innings pitched, 13 strikeouts and seven scoreless innings.

  • Galenski: two hits and a walk.

  • Moriarty: one hit

UP NEXT: The Blazers will host Dean College for their Senior Day on Monday, April 22nd in a doubleheader at 2:00 and 5:00 PM at Mackenzie Stadium.
