Kuentzel Throws near Perfect game in Win over Gordon

Auburndale, FL – The Elms College Baseball Team defeated Gordon College behind a near perfect game from first year CJ Kuentzel (Albany, NY). In his first collegiate start, Kuentzel took a perfect game into the 7th inning with the Blazers holding a 9-0 lead.

THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Elms was able to plate one in the visitor half of the second as AJ Cook (Mendon, MA) hit one right back up the middle to bring home Austin Roy (Cromwell, CT) to take a 1-0 lead.

The Blazers' tacked on a run in the third and two in the fourth to make it a four-run game. Kuentzel was dealing from the bump all game, striking out 9 and only allowing one hit in 7.0 innings of work. Elms added to their lead in the top of the sixth to eventually take the 9-0 win over the Scots. 

 

UP NEXT: The Blazers are back on the field up north on Wednesday 3/14 when they travel to Lesley University. The nine inning game will be played at Austin Prep in Reading, MA.
