Bio

Louise McCleary served as Director of Athletics at Elms College from 2002-2012. McCleary becomes the second Athletics Director to be elected to the Elms College Hall of Fame.

During her tenure, McCleary guided 15 intercollegiate programs, spearheaded the development of the athletics department by adding 11 full-time staff and coaches; oversaw the Berchmans gym renovation and a $1.7 million field-improvement project to construct the Leary and Cheryl R. Condon fields.

McCleary helmed the Blazers transition from the North Atlantic Conference to the New England Collegiate Conference, serving a term as AD chair for both conferences during her tenure.  She was instrumental in the addition of the Elms baseball program, as well as fostering a 40% growth in the number of student-athlete participants; increasing the student-athlete retention rate and raising the student-athlete grade point and graduation rates.  From 2002-2012, the Blazers participated in 15 NCAA national championships – including the first ever visit for the college in 2003.

McCleary joined the NCAA national office as director of Division III in February of 2012. She works in overseeing the division’s governance committee structure, serving as liaison to several governance committees, developing and implementing the division’s strategic plan and assisting the vice president in managing the division’s operating budget.
