Bio

Guerdline K. Curran received her B.S. from Elms College in 1957. She taught physical education at Elms from 1950 to 1960. Her instruction included archery, ping-pong, bowling, and basketball.

Her classes also incorporated recess games to aid those going into the education field. In 1983, she was a founding member of the Alumni Athletic Association. Through her efforts, and those of the Alumni Athletic Association, Elms College has expanded their athletic program including enlarging fields and purchasing practice gear and equipment.

Ms. Curran taught in a time when women's athletics were not encouraged and opportunities for women to participate were minimal. Her students, however, thrived under her leadership and overwhelming enthusiasm for physical well-being.
