Cross Country Alumna Returns as Coach

CHICOPEE, MA – 2020 Elms graduate Julia Trezza returns to Elms this fall as the head coach of the Elms College Men's and Women's Cross Country Team.

A graduate of the program and Wilbraham, MA native, Trezza holds a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education, with a Masters Degree in the works. In addition to her moniker "Miss Trezza," while teaching students in Springfield, MA, Trezza now goes by "coach."

"I am so excited to become a part of the Elms athletics community again, where I spent the most memorable 4 years of my life," Trezza said. "It's even more exciting that I get to coach my first college team ever with my coach while I was an athlete at Elms:Jill Bigos."

Getting her start as a runner at Minnechaug Regional High School, Trezza ran on 'Chaug's cross country and track and field teams. This fueled her desire to continue as a STUDENT-Athlete at Elms.

As a first year in 2017, Trezza was named NECC Rookie of the Week for Women's Cross Country. During the 2018 and 2019 seasons she helped her team claim the Women's Cross Country NECC Championship. Trezza also was tabbed for the NECC All Academic- Conference Award.

Today, Trezza remains a member of the regional running community and has several Holyoke St. Patt's Day 10Ks, Thanksgiving Day 5Ks and half marathons under her belt.

Interim Athletic Director Rob Southall shares Trezza's enthusiasm. "We are excited to welcome home one of our own Blazer Family members: Julia Trezza.  Under her leadership, our student athletes will be in a position to thrive across the classroom, campus and course. We are excited to see her grow the program and leave a lasting legacy as an alum and a coach.
