Jackson Secures Second GNAC and NEWBA Rookie of the Week

CHICOPEE, MA - Kayla Jackson (Saugus, MA) finishes out her first semester collecting her second Great Northeast Athletic Conference and New England Woman's Basketball Association Rookie of the Week title.

In the final week of the 2022 semester the Elms College Women's Basketball team has a 4-5 overall record with a 0-3 conference record. They were unable to secure the wins in both contests the week of Dec. 6th - Dec. 11th, but finished strong Tuesday night winning the final game before the Holidays over the Lesley University Lynx (71-54). 

Against the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) Jackson recorded 14 rebounds, nine defensive and five offensive boards. The first year also cashed in 17 points in 27 minutes of play time, Jackson also started for the Blazers against USJ on Dec. 7th.

Over the weekend against the Emmanuel College Saints Jackson managed to recover 13 rebounds, six defensive and seven offensive baords. She also caused some trouble in the paint and knocked down a three going 1-1 from outside the arch, the first year attained 17 points, handed out 2 assists and added a steal to her stats on Dec. 10th. 

The Blazers finished the semester last night (Tuesday Dec. 13th) where they overpowered the Lynx in the second half putting up 43 points. Jackson cashed in 12 points, knocking down a three and going 5-6 from the foul line. Great way to end the semester for the first year and the Women's Basketball team. The first game of the new year will be at Lasell Universtiy on January 3rd at 5:30PM.
