DeVaux Returns to Alma Mater as New Sports Information Director

CHICOPEE, MA – Former STUDENT-athlete Evelyn DeVaux will be returning to Elms College as the Sports Information Director this fall.

DeVaux graduated from Elms College in the spring of 2021 with a degree in Sport Management and Marketing. During her time as a STUDENT-athlete she was a four year member of the Field Hockey program and a Co-Captain her senior year. DeVaux was a standout on the 2017 NECC Championship team. Along with that program success, DeVaux was the 2021 Froehlich female award winner and the 2021 Dave "The Candyman" Dilisio Sportsmanship Award. She ended her career setting the Elms College Field Hockey record for Most Career Defensive Saves, with 22 saves in 3 seasons. She also tied the record for Most Defensive Saves within a season, with 11. During her time here DeVaux was President of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and Vice President for the Conference SAAC. DeVaux was also very involved on campus and was a Resident Advisor for two years.

In the fall of her sophomore year she found her way into the Sports Information Directors (SID) office and made it her second home. She continued as an intern in the SID office until she graduated in 2021. DeVaux worked alongside Sean Milbier - Head Coach Womens Soccer and Assistant Athletic Director of Communications had this to say;

"Evie went from being an intern in the Sports Infromation Department, to a leader very quickly. Her work ethic, willingness to learn, and professionalism was fantastic. There is no doubt that Evie will take the Sports Information department to antoher level." - Milbier

To add on, DeVaux was also selected as the Student Specialist for the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) in the 2019-2020 winter sports season. She was also selected to be a representative for Elms College and the NECC at the 2020 NCAA Convention in Anaheim, CA.

"I am extremely proud to announce that Evie DeVaux is coming back to Elms College to take over as our next Sports Information Director!  Evie was an excellent field hockey STUDENT-athlete standout during her career at Elms College." - Athletic Director Micheal Theulen

As a student DeVaux dedicated a lot of her time within the athletic department helping out within the sports information office. Besides field hockey games where DeVaux would be on the field, you could find her working the live stats, calling games or being the announcer at home contests.

"She excelled in all tasks assigned to her.  Her passion, commitment, and understanding of being a Blazer made her our number one candidate for this position." - Theulen

When asked about her new position at her alma mater DeVaux said;

"It is an amazing feeling to be able to say I am starting my career in sports information at the same institution where I found my passion for the profession – not many young adults get an opportunity to work and be part of the culture and environment they graduated from. And for me it is a rewarding feeling to be back here working with many of my role models then, and now colleagues!"- DeVaux

The Athletic Department and Blazer family are thrilled to have DeVaux back on campus starting this fall. We look forward to seeing all that she will add to our sports information department, and wish her luck in the new role here at Elms College.
