Blazers Softball Program Welcomes New Head Coach Bre Marcyoniak

CHICOPEE, MA - The Elms College Athletic Department is excited to announce that Associate Athletic Director, Bre Marcyoniak will be the new head coach for the softball program. Marcyoniak helped out with the Blazer softball program this past spring season, making it fitting to have her come back as the head coach this 2022-2023 season.

Marcyoniak completed her undergraduate at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth where she got her Bachelors in Science. She furthered her education and received her Masters in Science of Sport Management and Athletic Administration at Southern New Hampshire University. As a student-athlete, Marcyoniak was a defensive standout at UMass Dartmouth at multiple positions over her four years. Marcyoniak was a three-year captain of the Corsairs and served on the Executive Board of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee. After graduation, Marcyoniak continued her softball career playing at a high level of competitive tournament ball traveling nationally.

When asked about Marcyoniak, Theulen was quick to express his excitement about having her join the Blazer family.

"Bre was the obvious choice to be our next head softball coach and to take the reins of our highly successful softball program from our legendary coach, Cheryl Condon.  Bre has a spectacular softball resume as both a player and as a coach.  She is the right person at the right time.  Needless to say, the softball program is in excellent hands!" - Athletic Director Michael Theulen

In 2015, Marcyoniak began her coaching career for the Double Play Invaders travel organization, now known as The Jr Woo Sox. Marcyoniak was also an assistant coach from 2015-2019 at Springfield Central High School where she helped the Eagles win their first league title in program history. Recently, she has helped coach within the Valley Storm organization, along with joining the Blazers softball coaching staff working with catchers and hitters for the 2021 season.

Speaking with Marcyoniak about her new title here at elms she had this to say;

"It is an absolute honor to be named the next Head Softball Coach at Elms College! I want to thank Dr. Michael Theulen and Coach Cheryl R. Condon for believing in me and my vision for the program – I am committed to the overall success of our STUDENT-athletes, both on and off the field. I'm excited for the Elms College Softball team to continue to showcase their passion and dedication to the sport. This group of young women is hungry to compete in their second season of GNAC play" - Bre Marcyoniak

The athletic department as a whole is very excited to have Marcyoniak take on another role here at Elms. She is a role model for all the female STUDENT-athletes, and a major key player when it comes to what it means to be a Blazer. We look forward to seeing what Marcyoniak will bring to the softball program this Spring.
