Cross Country Hosts Blazer Invitational

CHICOPEE, Mass. – The Elms College men's and women's cross country team hosted the 2017 Blazer Invitational at Chicopee Memorial State Park Saturday afternoon. The Blazers women's team placed fifth overall, while the men's team finished eighth overall.

The women's team was paced by senior Sarah Tatgenhorst (Winterport, Maine), who placed 11th overall with a time of 26:33. Freshman Julia Trezza (Wilbraham, Mass.) finished 31st with a time of 30:28, followed by classmate Tyana Medina (30:45; Springfield, Mass.) at 33rd, sophomore Ariah Willemain (30:51; Belchertown, Mass.) in 34th, and sophomore Emily Guillerault (30:53, East Granby, Mass.) in 35th. Freshman Keara Moulton (Ashburnham, Mass.) placed 38th with a time of 31:03, while sophomore Emma Morton (Southwick, Mass.) took 40th at 31:22 and junior Alyssa Barnes (Pittsfield, Mass.) in 57th with a time of 42:17.

On the men's side, sophomore Rich Hernandez (North Branford, Conn.) led the Blazers, finishing 28th with a time of 34:55. Freshman Donald Cianciolo (Waterbury, Conn.) followed Hernandez in 29th with a time of 35:15, while freshman Robert Culhane (Hampden, Mass.) took 42nd at 39:55. Freshman Brendan Curley (Chicopee, Mass.) placed 50th with a time of 42:20, and junior Kevin Corcoran (Waterbury, Conn.) rounded out the Blazers at 52nd with a time of 43:31.

The Blazers return to action at the James Earley Invitational, hosted by Westfield State University at Stanley Park on October 7th.
