Late Goal Sinks Blazers

Chicopee, MA – The Elms College women's soccer team dropped a non-conference game on Wednesday night at Rainey Leary Field . The Blazers fell 1-0 to the visiting Salem State Vikings, with the loss Elms slides to 7-6-2 on the season.

The first half saw back and forth play by both teams with the Blazers holding a slight edge in shots (5-4). Each team would have a great opportunity to open up the scoring, but neither could capitalize, sending the game into the break tied at 0-0.

The second half would see more of the same action. Both teams would battle through the elements, and try to create chances. The best chance of the for the Blazers came in the 71st minute, Zaya Clark (Springfield, MA) was able to find Morgan Foucault (Putnam, CT) in the Viking 18 yard box, but Foucault's shot would sail wide.

The game would stay tied until the 84th minute, Salem would get in behind the Blazer backline and find the back of the net for the go-ahead and eventual game winner.

Molin would end the game with five saves for Elms.

The Blazers jump back into conference play on Saturday 10/19 when they host Mitchell College at 5PM on Leary Field.
