Blazers And Golden Bears Play To 0-0 Draw

Chicopee, MA – The Elms College women's soccer team tied the visiting Western New England Golden Bears 0-0 on Tuesday night on Leary Field. The Blazers are now 5-2-1 on the season.

The Golden Bears came out and controlled the first 10 minutes of the match, having most of the possession as well as an advantage in shots and corners. The Blazers would settle in and take control of the next 20 minutes, getting back the possession and getting off several shots. Neither team could take advantage of their opportunities and would go in to break tied 0-0.

The second half started the same way as the first, with WNEU controlling the game and getting quality chances. The best chance came when WNEU forward Kristin Decost found herself all alone at the top of the Elms six yard box, but her shot was turned aside by the Blazers senior keeper Becca Molin (West Hartfoed, CT).

Elms would once again fight their way back into the match and create several scoring chances of their own. The first came when Zaya Clark (Springfield, MA) ripped a shot just wide off a pass from Sydney Goodwin (Lawrence, MA). Two minutes later Elms would get their best chance of the night when Morgan Foucault (Putnam, CT)hit a prefect through ball to the feet of Goodwin who placed a shot into the WNEU goal, only to see the play called back on a very tough hand ball call.

The Golden Bears would get the only real chance in overtime when Samantha Vitka laced a shot from 20 yards out only to see Molin make another amazing save. Molin would end the night with 10 saves for the Blazers.

Elms is back in action on Saturday 9/21 when they open up conference play against Eastern Nazarene College on Leary Field.
