Denault’s Brace Sends Blazers Past Thomas

Chicopee, MA – The Elms College Women's Soccer team won on Sunday, defeating the visiting Thomas Terriers 2-0.

Elms came out of the gate strong and peppered the Thomas goal with multiple shots. The Blazers would keep the pressure on and eventually break through in the 16th minute. Elaina Vilar (Watertown, CT) sent in a cross that was gathered by Shannon Denault (Chicopee, MA) and deposited into the Terriers' net.

The Blazers would extend their lead to 2-0 at the 68:33 mark of the second frame. Elms would execute a corner kick play that started off the foot of Haley Richard (Monson, MA), Sydney Goodwin (Lawrence, MA) would then find Denault who would find the back of the Thomas net for her second goal of the game.

Becca Molin (West Hartford, CT) stopped all five shots she faced to preserve the shutout for the Blazers.

Elms is back in action on Wednesday 9/11 at 7:00PM when they travel to Fitchburg State University for their first road game of the 2019 campaign.
