Women’s Soccer Upended At Home By Nichols

Chicopee, MA – The Elms College Women's Soccer team suffered a 2-0 setback at home last  night to Nichols College.

The Blazers were able to control the stat column, outshooting the Bison 15-10 and had a 5-0 advantage in corners, however were unable to capitalize on their opportunities.  The best chance for Elms came in the 20th minute when Sydney Goodwin (Lawrence, MA) found herself one on one with the Bison keeper, Goodwin was able to get off a shot that would ring off of the post.  Nichols' keeper Olivia Marcantonio was big all night, picking up 13 saves in the game.

The Bison came out in the second half and controlled the play. They would take a 1-0 lead when Amalia Sessomss put in a shot from distance. Nichols would double their lead to 2-0 at the 67:49 mark when Niah Samboy got in behind the Blazer defense and placed a shot into the back of the net.

Elms is back in action on Saturday 9/7 at 12PM when they host Colby –Sawyer on Leary Field.
