Women’s Lacrosse Places Seven On NECC All-Conference Team

MARSHFIELD, MA - The New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) announced its 2019 Women's Lacrosse All-Conference teams and major award winners on Tuesday afternoon. The awards were voted on by the conference's seven coaches following the conclusion of the regular season. Six of the seven institutions were recognized on the All-Conference Team.

 The Blazers had two selected to the first team, Vanessa Vurno (Slame, CT) and Haley Richard (Monson, MA). Vurno finished the regular season with 103 points, 59 goals and 44 assists. Richard was equally as good, racking up 113 points, 70 goals, 43 assists, 103 draw controls, and 64 groundballs.

Representing Elms on the third team was Reilly Jodoin (South Hadley,MA), Erienne Dowe (Somers, CT), Alyssa Barnes (Pittsfield, MA) and Emily Hubber (Jefferson, ME).

Jodoin was impressive in her first year of colligate lacrosse picking up 38 points on 30 goals and 8 assists.

Dowe missed five games during the season, her return to the lineup was immediately felt defensively. She also pitched in with six goals and an assist.

Barnes was the backbone of the Blazer defense all year and appeared in all 17 games for the Elms, she scored her first career goal in 2019 vs Bay Path University.

Hubber played every minute in between the pipes in 2019, and registered 156 saves along the way.

Brooke Chisholm (Ludlow, MA) was selected as the team representative for the sportsmanship award.

 

The Blazers travel to New England College for a (NECC) semi-final matchup with the Pilgrims at 7pm and the right to go to the conference championship.
