Women’s Lacrosse Falls On The Road At Nichols

Dudley, MA – The Elms College women's lacrosse team suffered its first loss of the season on Tuesday at Nichols College 17-15.

The Bison got off to quick 4-0 start behind 2 goals from McKayla Pratte and a goal apiece from Lizz Mckinnon and Kristen Sullivan. The Blazers would storm back and tie things up with 4 consecutive goals of their own on tallies from Vanessa Vurno (Salem, CT), Haley Richard (Monson, MA) and Allie Zadworny (Northampton, MA). The Blazers would eventually take the lead on a goal from Richard and would extend the lead to 2 when Alecia Keesee (Westfield, MA) found the back of the net. The first half was action packed with five lead changes and would end with Nichols holding a slim 1 goal advantage at 9-8.

The second half saw the Bison start to pull away scoring the first 4 goals of the frame only to see the Blazers come roaring back yet again. Zadworny would notch her 4th goal of the contest to pull Elms to within 1, making the score 15-14; however that would be as close as EC would get eventually losing 17-15.

Emily Huber (Jefferson, ME) had 6 saves on the day in the game.

The Blazers are back in action on Saturday when they host Western New England University at 1pm.
