Blazers Fall in Both Games of Doubleheader

Naples, FL – The Elms College softball team dropped both games on Tuesday afternoon. The Blazers fell to Suny Canton 16-8 in game one, and Willmington (Ohio) 15-0 in game two.

 

Game One – Elms 8, Suny Canton 16

The first inning saw the two team score 10 combined runs. The Roos jumped out to an early lead pushing four runs across the plate. The Blazers came right back in the bottom of the frame and scored six runs to jump out front (6-4). The big hit came from Brandi Johnson who doubled in two runs. The Blazers added to their lead in the bottom of the third when Sofie Oliveira (Windsor Locks, CT) ripped a two RBI double down the left field line, giving Elms a (8-4) advantage.

The lead would be short lived as the Roos came up in the top of the next frame and plated 10 runs to take a (14-8) lead. Suny would add another run in the top of the sixth and seventh, and hold the blazers off the board to take the (16-8) win.

Nicole DeFeo (Watertown, CT) and Oliveira each had three hits in the game, Tyla Risucci (Watertown, CT) pitched in with two hits.

 

 

Game Two - Elms 0, Willington (Ohio) 15

The Blazers were down seven after giving up two runs in the first and another five runs in the third. Elms was unable to mount an kind of a comeback, the Blazers only hit in the game came off the bat of Kayla Beaulieu (Bristol, CT). The Quakers added eight more runs in the top of the sixth, and took the win (15-0).
