Cross Country Sets Eight Personal Bests At James Earley Invitational

WESTFIELD, Mass. – The Elms College men's and women's cross country returned to action at the James Earley Invitational, hosted by Westfield State University, at Stanley Park Saturday afternoon.

The Blazers women's team finished 29th out of a 33-team field, paced by a 111th-place finish from senior Sarah Tatgenhorst (Winterport, Maine) with a time of 21:01, the top finish among New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) runners. Freshman Tyana Medina (Springfield, Mass.) finished 197th with a personal-best time of 23:28, while freshman Keara Moulton (Ashburnham, Mass.), sophomores Emma Morton (Southwick, Mass.) and Ariah Willemain (Belchertown, Mass.), and freshman Julia Trezza (Wilbraham, Mass.) finished consecutively from 200-203. Moulton ran a personal-best time of 23:39, while sophomore Emily Guillerault (East Granby, Mass.) checked in at 205th with a personal-best time of 23:53, and junior Alyssa Barnes (Pittsfield, Mass.) placed 244th with a personal-best time of 31:20.

On the men's side, the Blazers finished 35th of 37 teams, led by sophomore Rich Hernandez (North Branford, Conn.) with a time of 32:01. Freshman Donald Cianciolo (Waterbury, Conn.) placed 194th with a personal-best time of 32:31. Freshman Robert Culhane (Hampden, Mass.) took 224th with a personal-best time of 35:00, while classmate Brendan Curley (Chicopee, Mass.) was trailed in 232rd with a personal-best time of 36:02. Junior Kevin Corcoran (Waterbury, Conn.) rounded out the Blazers runners in 241st with a personal-best time of 37:48.

The Blazers will return to the course for the Connecticut College Invitational in New London, Connecticut on Saturday.
