Track and Field Nets Six School Records At Pride Classic

WESTON, Mass. – The Elms College men's and women's track and field squad posted six new school records while competing at the 2017 Regis College Pride Classic at Regis Stadium Sunday afternoon.

On the men's side, senior Trifon Bish (St. Catherine, Jamaica) improved on his school records with first-place finishes in the 100 meter dash and the 200 meter dash, registering times of 11.05 and 22.21 seconds, respectively. Bish added a second-place mark in the triple jump at 14.15 meters. Freshman Rich Hernandez (North Branford, Conn.) set a new school record in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:49.81. Junior Donald Whittle (Somers, Conn.) delivered a second-place finish in the long jump (6.46m), while junior Jeremy Cruz (Perth Amboy, N.J.) took sixth in the javelin with a toss of 36.09 meters. Freshman Babba Jaden (Clarkston, Ga.) logged a seventh-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 11.68 meters. Freshman Edwin Burgos (Boston, Mass.) finished 10th in the 100 meter dash with a new personal best time of 11.98 seconds. Junior Nick Bergstrom (Derry, N.H.) placed seventh in the javelin with a new personal best of 35.50 meters, while freshman Alex Ciskowski (North Adams, Mass.) finished 10th in the event at a new personal best mark of 30 meters. Freshman Adrian Wong finished ninth in the 400 meter run at 1:08.26, and classmate Paul Ferraro (Walpole, Mass.) took 13th in the javelin at 25.30 meters.

For the women's team, freshman Alizaya Clark (Springfield, Mass.) bested her two school records in the 100 meter dash (13.73) and the 200 meter dash (28.31). Junior Sarah Tatgenhorst (Winterport, Maine) finished second in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:30.70. Freshman Emma Morton (Southwick, Mass.) recorded an eighth-place finish in the 1500 meter run with a personal best time of 5:41.42, while sophomore Amanda Rotberg (Rowley, Mass.) claimed eighth in the 400 meter run with a new personal best time of 1:18.48. Junior Trisha Doret (Boston, Mass.) delivered a new personal best in the 100 meter dash (14.97). Sophomore Nika Orsaris (Hartford, Conn.) was a hundredth of a second behind Doret with a new personal best of 14.98, along with a personal best in the 200 meter dash (32.84). Freshman Samantha Wegiel (Palmer, Mass.) placed 10th in the 100 meter hurdles with a new personal best of 18.94 seconds, while junior Latisha Rocke (Amherst, Mass.) logged a personal best time of 15.24. Sophomore Genny Paige (Yarmouthport, Mass.) launched a personal best of 15.40 meters in the javelin. The 4x100 team of Clark, Wegiel, Orsaris, and Doret raced to a new school record in the event with a time of 56.57 seconds, while the 4x400 team of Doret, Rocke, Tatgenhorst, and freshman Meghan Ballentine (Gardner, Mass.) finished second with a time of 5:06.75.
