Track and Field Sets Eight School Records at Snowflake Classic

MEDFORD, Mass. – The Elms College men's and women's track and field teams set eight new school records during the Tuft Snowflake Classic, hosted by Tufts University, Sunday afternoon. The men's squad finished 12th of 18 teams, while the women's team placed 22nd of 22 teams.

For the men's team, senior Trifon Bish (St. Catherine, Jamaica) posted a pair of new school records, winning the triple jump event with a mark of 14.01 meters, along with a third-place finish in the 200 meter dash in a time of 22.62 seconds. Sophomore Anthony Romei (Enfield, Conn.) set a new school record in the 400 meter dash with a time of 56.17, and finished 12th in the triple jump (9.83m). Junior Nick Bergstrom (Derry, N.H.) posted a new school record in the javelin with a distance of 30.42 meters, along with a personal-best time of 25.69 in the 200 meter dash. Freshman Michael Campos (Naugatuck, Conn.) delivered a pair of personal bests in the 100 meter dash (12.29) and the 400 meter dash (1:01.33). Freshman Babba Jaden (Clarkston, Ga.) finished 18th in the long jump (5.20m) and set a personal best in the 200 meter dash (25.69). In the javelin, junior Jeremy Cruz (Perth Amboy, N.J.) (27.30), freshman Alex Ciskowski (North Adams, Mass.) (27.04) and freshman Paul Ferraro (Walpole, Mass.) (21.01) all set personal bests in the event. Freshman Adrian Wong recorded a personal best in the 800 meter run (2:41.32), and freshman Edwin Burgos (Boston, Mass.) set a personal best in the long jump with a mark of 5.24 meters.

On the women's side, sophomore Nika Orsaris (Hartford, Conn.) registered a pair of school records in the 100 meter dash (14.99) and the 200 meter dash (33.38). Junior Sarah Tatgenhorst (Winterport, Maine) posted a new school best in the 1500 meter run with a time of 5:18.80. Sophomore Yoselyn Feliz (Springfield, Mass.) delivered a new school record in the javelin with a mark of 26.44 meters, while sophomore Genny Paige (Yarmouth Port, Mass.) notched a personal best in the event at 11.14 meters. Junior Trisha Doret (Boston, Mass.) finished with a pair of personal bests in the 100 meter dash (15.81) and the 200 meter dash (33.50), while sophomore Amanda Rotberg (Rowley, Mass.) tallied personal bests in the 100 meter dash (16.89) and the 200 meter dash (34.93). Junior Latish Rocke (Amherst, Mass.) and freshman Meghan Ballentine (Gardner, Mass.) logged personal bests in the 100 meter dash with times of 16.07 and 16.21, respectively. Freshmen Alizaya Clark (Springfield, Mass.) and Samantha Wegiel (Palmer, Mass.) clocked personal bests in the 200 meter dash with times of 29.38 and 29.65, respectively. The 4x100 squad of Wegiel, Clark, Orsaris, and Doret set a new school record in the event with a time of 57.35.

The Blazers will look to continue to improve their results when they return to action at the Smith Pioneer Invitational, hosted by Smith College, Saturday afternoon.
