Swimming Finishes Regular Season At UNE

Biddeford, ME - The Blazers competed in their final dual meet of the season on Saturday 1/25/2020 against the University of New England. The Men picked up a victory 111-68, while the women fell to the Nor'Easters 172-79.

The meet got off to a quick start with Cricket Cavar (Vernon, CT) and Ashley Krzykowski (Agawam, MA) both swimming to season best times in the 1000 Freestyle. The trio of Brittany North (Palmer, MA), Ashley Cronkhite (Lewiston, ME), and Sarah Cotto (Westfield, MA) all swam to season best times in the next event, the 200 Freestyle.

Michael Losardo (Pittsfield, MA) and Nick Taylor (Turners Falls) continued the momentum for the Blazers with a 1-2 finish in the 200 Freestyle, both swimming close to season best times.

The final few events before the first break went very well for the Blazers. Jake Connolly (Westbrook, ME) picked up a win in the 50 Breaststroke, swimming just off his personal best time. In the next event, North continued her record breaking streak in the 100 Butterfly, this time setting the 100 Yard Butterfly school record by over a second. Just before the break began, Ryan Nodell (Monson, MA), Connolly and Devin Senerchia (Ludlow, MA) swam to a 1st 2nd and 3rd place finish in the 50 Freestyle. 

In the 100 Freestyle, Cronkhite and Victoria Wanko (South Yarmouth) both swam to season best times, with Cronkhite picking up 2nd place points for the Blazers. In the next event, the 200 Backstroke, Cotto swam to another season best time. Kelly Scianna (Milford, CT) swam just off her season best picking up 2nd place points for the Blazers. Paul Ferraro picked up the win in the 200 Backstroke, also just off his season best time.

In the 100 Breaststroke, Keiry Marquez (West Springfield) and Nora Newman (Woburn, MA) both swam to new season best times. Jake Connolly picked up another win in the 100 Breaststroke, just off of his season best time. In the next event, Cavar swam to another season best time in the 500 Freestyle.

In the 50 Butterfly, Wanko and North swam to new personal best times, scoring 1st and 4th place points for the Blazers. Nick Taylor also picked up 1st place points in the 50 Butterfly just off of his season best time. 

The meet wrapped up with the Blazers picking up two 1st place finishes in the 200 Freestyle Relay. The Women's team swam to a season best time in the event.

The Blazers return to action at the GNAC Conference Championships from 1/31-2/2.
