Men's And Women's Swimming Competes At Albertus Magnus

New Haven, CT - The Elms College Blazer Swim Teams returned to competition at Albertus Magnus on Friday 11/8. The meet was a double dual for the women against Albertus Magnus, and Saint Joseph's Connecticut University. The men competed in a dual meet against Saint Joseph's Connecticut University. The women split their meets, beating Albertus Magnus 182-54, and falling to USJ 151-105. The men came out on top 116-86. The Blazer women progress to 2-2, and the men move to 3-0 on the season.

The meet got off to a quick start, with the Blazers winning both of the 400 Medley relays. The women's team of Kelly Scianna, Ashley Cronkhite, Brittany North and Julianne Gordon, and the men's team of Eddie Helldorfer, Jake Connolly, Nick Taylor and Ryan Nodell earned the early victories.

Cricket Cavar and Michael Losardo both followed up with back to back victories in the 1000 free. Both Cavar and Losardo continued their winning ways later in the meet in the 500 free. In the 500, both swimmers performed faster than their previous season best. Sarah Cotto also had a strong performance in the 500 free swimming just off of a season best time only minutes after a strong performance in the 200 back.

Eddie Heldorfer swam a quick 50 backstroke, clocking a 27.68 to win the event. Eddie also won the 100 free, and the 50 fly in season best fashion. Eddie's performances in the 50 butterfly and backstroke rank him 3rd and 4th respectively in the GNAC conference this season.

In the Men's 50 breast, Jacob Connolly, and Chris Sisco swam to a 1-2 finish. Ryan Nodell won the 50 freestyle, swimming a lifetime best and qualifying for the NEISDA championship meet in February.

Brittany North had a successful return to the pool with two first place finishes in the 50 and 100 butterfly. Victoria Wanko also scored valuable points for the Blazers in the 50 and 100 butterfly, swimming near lifetime best times. The women's team closed out the individual events with strong performances by Kelly Scianna, Brittany North and Hope Daley in the 200IM.

In the final relay of the meet, both the women's and men's teams of Cricket Cavar, Keiry Marquez, Nora Newman Ashley Krzykowski and Jake Connolly, Devin Senerchia, Chris Sisco, and Michael Losardo closed out the meet with solid 2nd place performances.

The Blazers will return to competition next Saturday, 11/16 at Umass Dartmouth.
