Elms Men Finish 7th, Women 18th At NEISDA Championships

KINGSTON, R.I. – The Elms College men's swim team finished seventh out of 12 teams and the Blazer women finished 18th out of 20 teams as the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships concluded on Sunday.

The Elms men finished with 203.5 points. Sunday's highlights included a fifth-place finish in the men's 400-yard freestyle relay as Eddie Capoldo, Matt Nodell, Michael Grippo and Nick Bergstrom finished with a time of 3:24.53 to pick up 28 points.

Bergstrom and Grippo combined to collect 24 points for Elms in the 100-yard IM. Bergstrom took fourth place (56.62) to earn 15 points and Grippo added nine more with a ninth-place finish in 58.09. Capoldo added 11 more points for Elms by finishing eighth in the 200 breaststroke (2:25.18).

The Blazer women also picked up points in the 400 free relay as Brittany North, Cricket Cavar, Julianne Gordon and Aislinn Carrier finished in 4:06.42 to finish 15th and snag 24 points. Cavar added a 19th-place finish in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 20:30.97.

Simmons College claimed the women's championship with 1504 points, edging second-place Roger Williams (1465). Roger Williams won the men's title with 965.5 points, well ahead of UMass Dartmouth (610) and Bridgewater State (607) who finished second and third, respectively.
