Blazer Women 11th, Men 9th After First Event Of NEISDA Championships

KINGSTON, R.I -- The 2018 New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association championships kick off on Thursday night with the men's and women's 800-yard freestyle relay, leaving the Elms College women in 11th place out of 15 teams and the men in ninth place in the nine-team field.

The Elms women relay, which featured Julianne Gordon, Cricket Cavar, Aislinn Carrier and Brittany North, finished Thursday's lone event in 8:59.42.

Tony Luciani, Paul Ferraro, Josh Guntly and Patrick Gay teamed up to swim the men's race in 9:08.59 for Elms to finish ninth.

The competition continues through Sunday evening at the University of Rhode Island.
