Men's Swimming Tops UNE, Women Fall

BIDDEFORD, Maine – The Elms College men's swim team picked up a 117-74 victory at the University of New England on Saturday while the Blazer women fell 168-63 to the Nor'easters.

Michael Grippo and Nick Bergstrom led the way for the Blazer men. Grippo (58.17) AND Bergstrom (1:02.14) finished first and second in the 100-yard backstroke, and Bergrstrom added a first-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle (23.31). Grippo also took medalist honors in the 50-yard backstroke (27.26).

Cricket Cavar took first in the women's 500-yard freestyle (5:56.46) and teamed with Julianne Gordon, Aislinn Carrier and Brittany North to finish the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:55.74.

The meet was the final regular-season competition of the season for Elms. The NEISDA Championships will be Feb. 15-18 at the University of Rhode Island in Kingston, R.I.
