Elms Swimming Falls Short Against Regis On Senior Day

CHICOPEE, Mass. – The Elms College men's and women's swim teams fell to Regis (MA) on Saturday, with the Blazer men dropping a 139-101 decision and the women losing 151-79.

Michael Grippo led a Blazer men's team that came up just short. Grippo took medalist honors in the 100-meter freestyle (57.92) and 100-meter backstroke (1:04.96) and swam the second leg of the 200-meter freestyle relay (1:50.76) that touched the wall just 12-hundreths of a second before second-place Regis (1:50.88).

Cricket Cavar and Brittany North finished first and second in the women's 200-meter IM, with Cavar taking medalist honors (2:49.58), just ahead of North (2:51.74). Blazer women Julianne Gordon, Aislinn Carrier, North and Hannah Bongiovanni also set a new Partyka Natatorium record in the 800 freestyle relay, finishing in 10:46.45 in an exhibition to close the day.

Saturday was Senior Day for four Blazer seniors. Nick Bergstrom, Tony Luciani, Aislinn Carrier and Molly Gagnon were recognized for their contributions to the program before the meet.

The Blazers wrap up the regular season at the University of New England on Jan. 27 at 1:00 p.m. The NEISDA Championships are Feb. 15-18 at the University of Rhode Island.
