Men’s Basketball Falls at Home to Dean in NECC Action

Chicopee, MA – The Elms College men's basketball team fell at home on Saturday afternoon 79-67 to Dean College in their season finale. The Blazers finish with an overall record of (9-16), (5-7) in league play, and secured the fifth seed in the New England Collegiate Conference tournament.

The Blazers led by as many as ten points in the first half as DJ Edelen (Prince George, VA) opened the game hot for Elms, connecting on his second three-point of the first ten minutes to give the hosts a 27-17 edge. Dean eventually erased the deficit and went into halftime ahead 42-38 courtesy of a 25-11 run.

The Blazers took the lead briefly in the opening portion of the second half on a David Lopez Jr. (Willimantic, CT) inside hoop, but a 17-6 Bulldog burst put Dean in front to stay at 66-57. Elms did stay close for a stretch, but the Bulldogs saw their advantage balloon to as many as 15. The visitors took the conference game 79-67.

Edelen finished with 14 points. Ahmad Conner (Springfield, MA) also had 14 points on the day.

The Blazers travel to Dean College on Tuesday 2/25 at 7PM for a first round NECC tournament game.
