Strong Second Half Lifts NEC Over Men’s Basketball

Chicopee, MA – The Elms College men's basketball team lost 79-63 to the visiting New England College Pilgrims on Wednesday Night at Picknelly Arena.  The Blazers fall to (6-15) overall on the season and (2-6) in the New England Collegiate Conference.

The game would be a tale of two halves for the Blazers. The home side played a near perfect first half, holding the Pilgrims to only 31 points, and taking a (32-31) lead into the break. Justin Feliciano (Springfield, MA) paced the Blazers on offense with nine points.

The second half belonged to the visitors, the Pilgrims jumped out front early, and steadily built on their lead throughout the half. NEC would shoot 50% from the three point line going 8 for16, and held Elms to only 22 shot attempts from the field.

The Blazers battled back and cut the deficit to 10 (59-49) with 8:44 to play in the game. That was as close as Elms would get, eventually dropping the home game (79-63).

Elms had three players in double-digits on the night. Feliciano and Ahmad Connor (Springfield, MA) each had 14, DJ Edelen (Prince George, VA) chipped in with 10 points.

The Blazers are back on the court Wednesday 2/12 when they travel to Lesley University at 7:30PM in NECC action.
