Men’s Basketball Starts Season With OT Loss

Chicopee, MA— The Elms College men's basketball team opened up their 2019-2020 season on Saturday afternoon at Picknelly Arena. The Blazers would drop the game to sage College 81-79 in OT.

The Blazers got a strong first half from rookie Ahmad Conner (Springfield, MA), Conner would collect 15 points and 5 rebounds in the opening half. The Blazers would go into the break, down 35-31.

Justin Feliciano (Springfield, MA) and Kaleb McClain would combine for 15 points in the second half, to help the Blazers send the game into OT.   

In the overtime period with 1:19 left to play, Elms led 77-76 after Conner hit a three-pointer. Sage would convert hit a layup to take a 78-77 lead with 0:24 left to play. Borders collected a key defensive board with 0:19 left and was fouled. He went to the line with 13 seconds left and made both ends of his free throws to give Sage an 80-77 lead. Elms answered right back Tahquell Cadle hit a layup with 0:02 to cut Sage's lead by one before Demark hit the final shot of the game with 0:01 to give Sage the 81-79 win.

The Blazers are back on the court Friday 11/15 at Roger Willimas with a 5:30PM tip off.
