Field Hockey Comes Up Short At UMaine Farmington

Farmington, ME – The Elms College field hockey team lost to the University of Maine Farmington Beavers 1-0 on Saturday afternoon in the first round of the NECC playoffs. The Blazers finish the season 5-14 overall and 2-6 in conference play.

With the game being played on a difficult grass surface, neither team could get anything going on offense. The game would only have four combined shots between the teams. The Beavers would take advantage of their lone first half shot, and at the 19:25 mark took a 1-0 lead. The game would go into the break with UMaine Farmington on top.

Elms would come out in the second half and continue to struggle getting anything going on offense. The Blazers would get three penalty corners in the fourth quarter, but the uneven playing surface would again become an issue, keeping Elms from being able to execute.

The Blazers were unable to find a goal, and would see their season come to an end with a 1-0 loss.
