Huge Second Half Pushes Field Hockey Past Dean

Franklin, MA – The Elms College field hockey team picked up its first NECC win of the season on Tuesday afternoon at Dean College. The Blazers erupted for 11 goals on 36 shots in the game. The win puts Elms at 4-12 on the season and 1-4 in conference play.

The Blazers got off to a fast start, scoring just 27 seconds into the contest when Maddie Gabel (Agawam, MA) was able to find the back of the Bulldog cage. Gable would strike again in the sixth minute off an assist from Evie DeVaux (Wethersfield, CT). Elms would take the 2-0 into halftime.

The Blazers came out in the second half and took control of the game. Elms would take 26 shots in the second frame, putting nine of them into the Dean cage. Carissa Ramirez (San Diego, CA) would score three consecutive goals, all within a 10 minute span. Ramirez would also have an assist in the game, giving her seven points.  Olivia Kean (Enfield, CT) would add two goals and two assists for the Blazers, and Francesca Davitt (East Longmeadow, MA) would add a goal as well. Nobody would have a bigger impact on the game than Ellie Serra (Palmer, MA). Serra would pick a career high three goals and two assists, finishing the game with eight points.  

The Blazer defense was impressive as well, keeping the Bulldogs from getting a shot on goal.

Elms is back in action on Saturday 10/26 when they travel to Maine-Farmington at 1PM in NECC action.
