WORCESTER, MA – The Elms College field hockey team dropped a tough road game on Saturday morning 4-0 at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. The Blazers slip to (1-4) on the season.
The first half would see WPI dominate the paly, racking up 14 shots and 12 penalty corners. The Blazers were held without a shot in the opening frame and only took one penalty corner. The Engineers would open the scoring at the 3:16 mark and would double their lead in at the 17:20 mark, taking a 2-0 lead into the break.
WPI would convert a penalty stroke with 3:55 to play and add a goal with eight seconds left on the clock to take the game 4-0.
Erin Thibodeau (East Longmeadow, MA) took the only shot, which was on-goal, for Elms. Defensively, Nora Newman (Woburn, MA) stopped nine shots for the guests.
The Blazers are back in action on Tuesday 9/17 when they travel to Clark University at 7:00PM
