Field Hockey Raises Over $600 For Team Jacob

The Elms College field hockey team recently raised $605 for the family of 16-year-old Jacob Carlander who has been battling hepatoblastoma. The team raised the money through 50/50 raffle sales at the Blazers’ spring sporting events and in the Mary Dooley College Center.
Fourteen Field Hockey Players Named to the 2013 Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad

Fourteen Elms College field hockey players were named to the 2013 Gladiator by SGI/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III National Academic Squad as recently announced by the organization.

Elms College junior forward Kayla Narey (South Hadley, Mass.) netted the equalizing goal in the 41st minute of play but Regis College used a penalty stroke goal from Stacy Burns (Everett, Mass.) in the 91st minute to lift the second-seeded Pride to a thrilling 2-1 victory over the third-seeded Blazers in Wednesday evening’s New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship tournament semifinal field hockey game at Regis Stadium in Weston, Mass.

Elms College senior midfielder Brianna Lyons (Canton, Mass.) scored a goal, senior midfielder Julie Hurley (Palmer, Mass.) added an assist, and sophomore forward Kristina Kopyscinski (Agawam, Mass.) netted an early hat trick to help propel the Blazers to a 8-1 victory over Daniel Webster College in Tuesday afternoon’s New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) field hockey game at Leary Field.
