Bessette Claims NECC Rookie Of The Week Honor

MARSHFIELD, Mass. – With a 24th place finish in the Mitchell College Invitational, Elms College freshman Alana Bessette (Springfield, Mass.) was honored as the New England Collegiate Conference Women’s Cross Country Rookie of the Week, the league announced on Monday.

Bessette made her collegiate debut by finishing the 5K course in 26:13.8. Her performance helped the Blazer women finish second in the five-team race, and tops among the four NECC teams.

This is the first weekly conference honor of Bessette’s career.
