Chicopee, Mass- The Elms College Men's & Women's Cross Country Programs opened up their 2014 campaigns Friday night in Dallas, Pennsylvania at the Misericordia University Invitational.
 
On the women's side standout freshman Sarah Tatgenhorst (Winterport, ME) led the Blazers and kicked off her career with a 7th place finish of 16:58 on the 4k course. Senior Rachel Lehouillier (Belchertown, MA) came off a strong summer of training to finish second for the Blazers in 17:58. The influx of new talent on the Blazers' roster continued with freshman Sarah Kaczenski (Northfield, MA)19:28 and senior first year runner Diana Borys (Oakville, CT) 19:47. The top seven for the Blazers were rounded out by senior Shirley Ryan (Brimfield, MA) 20:15, freshman Caitlyn Hoschtetler (South Hadley, MA) 20:36, and junior captain Emma Bernard (Chicopee, MA) 21:13. Freshman Mattie Jordan (Lopez Island, WA) 21:18 and junior Jackie Quetti (Pittsfield, MA) 21:28 also had strong showings for the Blazers.

On the men's side junior captain Adam Kuzdzal (Chicopee, MA) started off what will be a very strong season and led the Blazers with a time of 19:54 on the 5k course. Joshua Diaz Rolon (Springfield, MA) started his sophomore campaign on a positive note with a 21:21. Sophomore Joey Sirois (Easton, MA) finished third for the Blazers in 23:39 and first year runner sophomore Luis Brignoni (Springfield, MA) started his career at Elms in 24:32.
