Blazers Strike Down AMCATS
Paxton, MA – The Elms College Blazers added another GNAC win to their belt yesterday evening, as they traveled to Anna Maria College for a 6PM start.
THE BASICS:
SCORE: Elms 3, Anna Maria 0 (25-11, 25-12, 25-12)
RECORDS: Blazers of Elms (17-7, 9-3 GNAC) | AMCATS (6-18, 1-10 GNAC)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Blazers came out strong with a 7-0 lead with strong serving from Govanna Rosado (Humacao, P.R.). They remained strong throughout the rest of the set and a kill by Laura Jensen (Torrance, CA) and an AMCAT error sealed the set for the Blazers 25-11. Elms went up 1-0.
The second set saw the Blazers up 5-1 after 4 straight Blazer kills and a service ace from Natalia Caraballo Rivera (Fajardo, P.R.). A kill by Elese Ciarcia (South Glastonbury, CT) put the Blazers up 20-9. A pair of kills from Sabrina Christie (Agawam, MA) helped seal the set 25-12. Elms led the match 2-0.
The third set began with another Rosado service run including 3 aces to put the Blazers up 5-0. A second service run from Kianna Lozada (Bayamon, P.R.) pushed the Blazers lead to 11-3. A pair of kills from Christie closed the third set 25-12 and Elms took the match 3-0.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

Cruz Diaz led the Blazers with ten kills, nine digs and four block assists.

Christie and Ciarcia were error-free from the front line. Christie hit .643 with 9 kills on 14 attempts while Ciarcia hit .778 with 7 kills on 9 attempts.

Lozada led the defense with 17 digs.
