Redding Hits 1,000-Kill Milestone As Elms Tops Dean 3-0

CHICOPEE, Mass. – Elms College senior Danielle Redding became the first Blazer women's volleyball player to surpass the 1,000-kill milestone as the Blazers cruised to a 3-0 win over Dean in New England Collegiate Conference action on Thursday night.

Redding (Las Vegas, Nev.) led all players with 11 kills in the match while teammate Hannah Pichardo (South Glen Falls, N.Y.) added nine kills and nine digs. Aimee Jolicoeur (Hampden, Mass.) gave the Blazers a boost off the bench, providing five kills without an error to hit .556. Dakota Stewart had 30 of Elms' 31 assists in the contest and added five aces and nine digs. Hannah Adams (Deerfield, Mass.) picked up a team-best 11 digs for Elms (17-4, 7-1 NECC).

Dean (12-13, 2-6 NECC) was led by Nicole Defosses (Colorado Springs, Colo.), who finished with team-bests of five kills and 11 assists. Kait Anderson (Clinton, Conn.) added four kills and 11 digs for the Bulldogs and Paola Gonzalez (Southbridge, Mass.) added eight digs.

The Blazers out-hit, out-served and out-dug the Bulldogs. Elms held a .234-.056 advantage in hitting percentage in the match while delivering 15 aces and coming up with 55 digs. Dean finished with two aces and 41 digs for the evening.

Both teams will wrap up the regular season with one final NECC contest on Oct. 27. Elms will visit Mitchell while Dean will play at Newbury. The league's top eight teams will advance to the NECC tournament, which begins with on Oct. 30. The top four teams in the final NECC standings will host quarterfinal matches.
